About Alcatel-Lucent
Alcatel-Lucent was a French global telecommunications equipment company headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. The company was formed in 2006 through the merger of Alcatel and Lucent. In 2014, Alcatel-Lucent split into two entities: Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, a provider of enterprise communication services, and Alcatel-Lucent, a vendor to communications operators. Alcatel-Lucent’s operations focused on fixed, mobile, and converged networking hardware, IP technologies, software and services, with operations in more than 100 countries. That year, the enterprise business was sold to a Chinese company, and in 2016 the remaining operations were purchased by Nokia. Nokia acquired all Alcatel-Lucent stock for a price of 15.6 billion euros. The goal of the acquisition was to make Nokia a powerful competitor to Ericsson and Huawei.
